The Invention of Hugo Cabret (Selznick)

Normally, I like to read the book first. But I saw Hugo and loved it. The book is wonderful, and for the  most part, Scorcese was pretty faithful to it (to his credit). The book is a new kind of art. It’s not a graphic novel. It’s a book with “one hundred and fifty-eight different pictures and. . .twenty-six thousand one hundred and fifty-nine words” (511). It’s a quick and wonderful read.

I am looking forward to his new one – Wonderstruck.
