Uncommonly Good Ideas: Teaching Writing in the Common Core Era (Murphy & Smith)

An excellent resource for new teachers and a good refresher for those of us who have been hanging around for a while. It’s also a great reminder why the National Writing Project is so valuable.

I appreciated how they focused their examples on one topic. That decision made it easier to concentrate on the difference the writing lessons and not worry so much about the task at hand. The chapter “Collaborating” was my favorite, and I’d love to cultivate that kind of culture among my colleagues.
